Since there are just a few days left before the vote, we’ve put together this blog post to show how you can show your support for MAPS by creating videos and sharing them with your friends and family.
How does the MAPS campaign on uVizz work?
You create videos explaining why you’re voting for MAPS. Once the video has been uploaded to uVizz and approved by the MAPS campaign, you’ll be able to share it with all of your friends on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, through email, instant messenger, and by embedding the uVizz video player in blogs and websites.
If you haven’t checked Facebook recently, there’s more chatter opposing MAPS than there is supporting it. As we all know, a friend’s opinion can be very influential. If undecided voters only see the opinions of friends on social networks who oppose MAPS, they are more likely to vote against it. As of today, there are 387,940 men and women with Facebook accounts that are over the age of 18 living in Oklahoma City. It is important that as many of them as possible see videos supporting MAPS before December 8th.
What makes the campaign unique is that you get paid when anyone watches your video for the first time. You also get paid when you share videos and people watch them for the first time. Instead of paying an ad agency to come up with these videos, “Yes for Maps” is turning your campaign support into successful word of mouth marketing…..and rewarding you for it! What kind of videos can I create?
That’s up to you. Just make sure that the video explains why you think MAPS should pass. Also, please leave out the profanity and wardrobe malfunctions ;-). Don’t worry about adding special effects or editing the video. Just grab something that records video (mobile phones are fine) and start talking. That’s all it takes.
Here’s a video that was submitted to the campaign. You’ll see that it was done with a webcam. To watch it, click on Facebook Connect, Twitter, or MySpace under the video player. Don’t worry, uVizz won’t SPAM your friends or followers. The reason we want you to connect with a social network profile is so that we can see if it is your first time to watch the video. That enables us to compensate those who created and shared the video.
