Show Your Support for MAPS By Creating Videos

Since there are just a few days left before the vote, we’ve put together this blog post to show how you can show your support for MAPS by creating videos and sharing them with your friends and family.

How does the MAPS campaign on uVizz work?

You create videos explaining why you’re voting for MAPS.  Once the video has been uploaded to uVizz and approved by the MAPS campaign, you’ll be able to share it with all of your friends on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, through email, instant messenger, and by embedding the uVizz video player in blogs and websites.

If you haven’t checked Facebook recently, there’s more chatter opposing MAPS than there is supporting it.  As we all know, a friend’s opinion can be very influential.  If undecided voters only see the opinions of friends on social networks who oppose MAPS, they are more likely to vote against it.  As of today, there are 387,940 men and women with Facebook accounts that are over the age of 18 living in Oklahoma City.  It is important that as many of them as possible see videos supporting MAPS before December 8th.

What makes the campaign unique is that you get paid when anyone watches your video for the first time.  You also get paid when you share videos and people watch them for the first time.  Instead of paying an ad agency to come up with these videos, “Yes for Maps” is turning your campaign support into successful word of mouth marketing…..and rewarding you for it!  For more information on how the compensation model works, go here:

What kind of videos can I create?

That’s up to you.  Just make sure that the video explains why you think MAPS should pass. Also, please leave out the profanity and wardrobe malfunctions ;-).  Don’t worry about adding special effects or editing the video.  Just grab something that records video (mobile phones are fine) and start talking.  That’s all it takes.

Here’s a video that was submitted to the campaign.  You’ll see that it was done with a webcam.  To watch it, click on Facebook Connect, Twitter, or MySpace under the video player.   Don’t worry, uVizz won’t SPAM your friends or followers.  The reason we want you to connect with a social network profile is so that we can see if it is your first time to watch the video. That enables us to compensate those who created and shared the video.

MAPS 3 in Oklahoma City Launches uVizz Campaign

We’re excited to launch a new campaign on uVizz.  It is for “MAPS 3”, which is a proposal that calls for a seven-year, nine-month one-cent sales tax that will fund the building of a new downtown park, convention center, 57 miles of public bicycling and walking trails, and other improvements in Oklahoma City.

As we all know, advertising for sales tax initiatives normally isn’t that interesting. So the folks behind MAPS 3 decided to do something different by running a campaign on uVizz.  The goal is to get people to create videos explaining why they support the initiative and then share them with friends on social networks. As the videos spread, the campaign message reaches potential voters.  What makes the campaign unique is that people are paid for creating and sharing the videos.  Yes, that’s correct.  People earn money for telling their friends why they support MAPS 3.  Pretty cool, huh?

Here’s how it works:

1)  Create a short video explaining why you support MAPS 3. The video doesn’t need to be professionally done.  You can use a mobile phone, web cam, or anything else that records video.  If you want to make it funny, you can.  Just remember that the video should explain why you’re voting for MAPS 3.

2)  Submit it to the MAPS 3 campaign on uVizz for approval.

3)  Share the video with your friends.  You can send it to them on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo, Friendster, through email and instant messenger, or by embedding the uVizz video player on any blog or website.  With this campaign, when someone watches your video for the first time, you get paid 10¢.  You also get paid when you share videos and people watch them.  Considering that videos can spread to thousands of people quickly, the views can add up to quite a bit of money.  The more you participate with the campaign, the more you earn.
